Poetry

My publishing history started with a poem in high school in 1986. In university, I focused on poetry initially, and only toward the end of my time there started to write fiction.

In 2023, as I was sorting through boxes of archived materials, I found folders of poems written between roughly 1988 and 1998. About 240 poems. Many more than I'd remembered. Many not as bad as I'd remembered. Some worse, of course.

Below is the brief history of my poetry publications.

  • One poem. Canadian Dimension. 1998.
  • Two poems. Phoenix. University of Waterloo. 1995.
  • Two poems. Jackknife Express. 1994.
  • One poem. The New Quarterly. 1994.
  • One poem. Jackknife Express. 1993.
  • Three poems. The Otherside. University of Waterloo. Winter 1992.
  • Two poems. Phoenix. University of Waterloo. 1992.
  • Two poems. Online (print – became Phoenix). University of Waterloo. 1991.
  • One poem. Festival. East York Collegiate Institute. 1985.
